September 8 and 9 2006 the 5th edition of Delft Tattoo was held at the market square at the center of Delft.
Besides the several Dutch orchestras, it was the first time in 'modern' history of the Delft Tattoo, that a military orchestra would make her appearance. Defense had in fact agreed to a performance by the National Reserve Corps that would bring a historical show. By this participation the public could enjoy a quick trip through the past of the 'old' Delft Military Tattoo.
Traditionally, this year the street parade was held on the Saturday afternoon in the center of Delft. This time it took less than 26 music and show bands to participate. Thousands of spectators lined the route and were thus witnessing this musical parade.
Delft Tattoo awarded 'Tattoo of the Year '
The website Korpsmuziek.nl holds an annual election in which tattoo visitors can vote for their favorite tattoo of that year. In 2006 Delft Tattoo won 25 percent of the votes and therefore was awarded 'Tattoo of the Year' for the first time.
